If the plan is to keep taking practice tests until the score magically improves, you’re probably going to stay stuck. A lot of students hear that practice makes perfect and assume more tests = more progress. But here’s the catch — practice only helps if you’re learning from it.
Taking test after test without stopping to figure out what’s actually going wrong is like going to the gym and doing random workouts without checking your form. You’re spending time and energy, but you’re not necessarily getting better.
What really moves the needle is review. Not just checking which questions you got wrong, but understanding why. Did you run out of time? Did the wording trip you up? Did you second-guess yourself and change a right answer to a wrong one? That’s the stuff that matters.
Good prep isn’t about quantity. It’s about focused effort, smart review, and building habits that stick. One properly reviewed practice test can do more for your score than five rushed ones — no exaggeration.
So if your test prep plan is mostly “just keep testing,” take a step back. Ask yourself what you’re learning each time. And if the answer is “not much,” it might be time for a new approach.
